摘要：This paper examines the impact of the Wenchuan earthquake on firm performance in its aftermath and investigates the role that cross-regional intra-business group networks play in enhancing businesses’ recovery capabilities. To accurately define the affected establishments, we matched business locations with earthquake intensity zones, enabling a precise assessment of the earthquake’s impact on firm-level outcomes. Using a difference-in-differences approach, we demonstrate that cross-regional intra-business networks significantly improve post-disaster enterprise performance. Furthermore, we analyze the heterogeneous effects of these networks, considering factors such as firm size, position within the business group, and supply chain dependencies. While existing studies have primarily focused on government aid and firms’ self-accumulation capacities in disaster recovery, our findings highlight the critical importance of cross-regional networks within business groups for facilitating recovery through efficient resource reallocation.
嘉宾介绍：周沂，北京大学博士，四川大学williamhill中文教授，博导，加州大学洛杉矶分校访问学者，四川省学术技术带头人后备人选，入选成都市蓉城英才计划。主要研究方向为城市与区域经济发展、环境经济与公共政策评估等。先后在国内外权威期刊发表论文四十余篇，合作出版专著两部，参编专著多部。主持国家自然科学基金面上和青年项目、教育部人文社科青年项目以及四川省社科基金项目多项。荣获第九届高等学校科学研究优秀成果（人文社会科学）青年奖、四川省高等教育教学成果一等奖等。
